Tabata Protocol - Twice the Results in a Third of the Time

November 20th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

Numerous people have never even heard of this routine. The Tabata Protocol is hardly new, but often overlooked. There are many people that would benefit from this type of workout, if only they knew more about it. If you have heard of turbulence training, then this will kind of give you an idea of what this fitness program is like. So without further delay, let’s talk about this fantastic cardio workout.

So What is the History of the Tabata Protcol?

Izumi Tabata, Ph.D. developed the Tabata Protocol originally for the Japanese speed skating team. Tabata was a researcher at Japan’s National Institute of Fitness and Sports. The Tabata Protocol is quite effective, to say the least. It may be the most time efficient fat loss workout known to man.

How Does the Tabata Protocol Differ From Other Interval Routines?

The entire routine takes about 13 minutes, but this includes only 3-4 minutes of very intense work. The routine involves 6-8 hard intervals that last 20 seconds each. Alternate with 10-second rest periods. Add in five minutes each of warm up and cool down, and, you’re done!

How on Earth Can 3-4 Minutes Burn Body Fat?

The secret to this type of short-term intense interval training is that it speeds up your metabolism and keeps it there for hours after you’re done. Burning fat for hours after the workout leads to very effective results. Keep your muscles healthy, because your body burns fat instead of muscle tissue.

This Interval Training Routine is NOT Easy!

Just because it doesn’t take a long time, the Tabata Protocol is not an easy workout. If you do it properly, it is a difficult 3-4 minutes. Top athletes have been known to struggle, but they will stick with it knowing it will improve body fat levels as well as aerobic and anaerobic capabilities.

What Exercises Can You Incorporate Into the Tabata Protocol Workout routine?

This is what excites me the most about this method of cardio…you have a ton of choices. I think the easiest would be an exercise bike, elliptical or running at a track. It wouldn’t be a very good for the treadmill, because the treadmill takes to long to get up to top speed. You could use almost any piece of cardio equipment that allows you to reach maximum effort quickly.

This Is Also a Great Routine To Become Better in Your Chosen Sport

A Boxer, you could hit the heavy bag for 20 seconds followed by 10 seconds of rest. A basketball player could jump and try to touch the rim numerous times for 20 seconds followed by 10 seconds of rest. A swimmer could do a crawl stroke, butterfly stroke, etc…You get the picture. This is actually a good, high-level method to increase athletic performance in many sports.

Fitting the Tabata Protocol Into Your Workout

Don’t be mistaken, this is not an easy cardio program. This intense form of exercise can replace your other high-intensity workouts for more effective results. It will save you time, which many busy people will appreciate. A few brief days every week might be nice. Try it and see if you can get some results, it’s worth a shot!

Avoid Possible Injury With The Proper Stretching Exercise

November 20th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

Illustrated Stretching Exercise

Any physical trainer will tell you to perform some stretching exercises before you start any form of fitness training to prevent possible injury. There are some other points to remember as well that can ensure a safe and enjoyable workout. Stretching increases the ability of muscles to flex and contract and is just as useful when you have finished exercising.

To increase your flexibility and to avoid injuries, stretch before and after workout. This flexibility is further improved when you carry out muscle and tendon stretching exercises after you have finished any physical activity.

Hold your stretching position for more than 60 seconds to increase flexibility, because although holding your position for 20 seconds is enough for warm ups; holding each position for at least 60 seconds will develop the body’s flexibility. Do not go into a stretching position then immediately return to the relaxed position; and, do it repeatedly which is more appropriately termed bouncing while in a position.

By hold the stretched position for several seconds, and then slowly relaxing means you can do this exercise repeatedly, but bouncing or forcing yourself into a position during stretching can strain or damage some joints or muscles. Do not jump from an easy stretching exercise to a hard one, but complete the easiest first and do the hardest last as by this time most of your muscles will be warm and it will make the difficult exercise easier.

A neck workout is as important as the rest of your body and is quite easy, only requiring pressure from the palm of the hand as it rests against the forehead which can then be repeated at the side of the head and the back. By performing stretching exercises, whether at the gym or not will increase both your flexibility but help increase your strength and improve your breathing and fitness training as well. Workout only to your capabilities and not that of others so do not force yourself to do exercises that you are not yet capable of just because there are people who can do it; increase your limits slowly and listen to your body. Remember there will be days when your body will perform better than others; this is quite normal and should be expected as even top sportsmen have good and bad days so why should you be any different. Fitness training everyday can be punishing for the muscles and does not allow them to heal and grow so try to leave a day between workouts. Aerobic exercises are the best for you because they will improve you cardiovascular system, improve your stamina, lung capacity and overall fitness; exercises like skipping running, rowing, swimming, stepping machines etc.

If you are someone that likes aerobic exercise then you should listen to music if possible as it helps to have a regular beat. If you are someone who has trouble relaxing or sleeping then you may want to consider stretching exercises as it is good for you even if you are not working out. Stretching is good for you even if you are not performing it before exercise and many people use it for relaxation purposes prior to sleep.

When Is A Dog ATreadmill Dog?

November 19th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

dog fitness

Treadmills are considered the most popular exercise equipment out today…for humans. The reasons for this include ease of use; efficient calorie burn, convenient location indoors and they create less impact on your body compared with walking or running on hard surfaces. Those same reasons apply to your dog. Have you thought about turning your dog into a treadmill dog?

A treadmill is easy to use for both humans and animals because it allows for the natural movement as walking or running outdoors. There are treadmills made especially for pets, but they work similarly to regular treadmills. Training your pet to walk on a human treadmill is just as simple as training them to walk on a specialized dog treadmill. When you have the equipment already in your home, there is no need to be out the expense on doggie equipment.

A treadmill can give you so much convenience. Not only do you avoid the fluctuations in weather conditions, your treadmill dog can get the workout he needs day or night with no safety worries like traffic conditions.

The first step in the training process is always safety. Make sure you have a harness with a place to attach a leash in front of the chest. This way it’s easier to control the dog while you’re in front of them, and it will prevent unnecessary tension on a neck collar.

Another thing to keep in mind while you exercise your dog on a treadmill is that they are doing all the work, and we’re not. Treadmill activity can be a big workout for dogs because it requires a steady pace. Make sure to watch and listen for signs that your dog is getting tired or overheated just as you would for any activity.

Now, make sure the treadmill is at its lowest setting. A dog can become frightened by the intensity of the ground moving too quickly beneath him. Get yourself comfortable in a spot in front of the machine so that you will be close to your pet. If you get up and leave your dog in the middle of the training, he may become anxious. Never leave your dog unattended on a treadmill. He could lose his footing and become choked.

Next take and offer your dog a treat to lure him onto the treadmill. You will want to make this a positive experience for your dog. Once your dog is positioned on the platform, thread the leash in through the front of the treadmill and turn the machine on low. Use the treats to lure your dog forward and keep them just beyond his nose until he willingly moves forward with the machine. Don’t forget to reward the behavior with a treat.

Dogs respond positively to words of encouragement, so call to him and tell him how great he’s doing. Make sure to always start out slow and progress until your dog reaches an easy trot. Do this for five minutes a day until he moves smoothly even without a treat for a lure.

Because treadmills are a healthy way to boost fitness levels, their popularity is enormous. Applying the same logic with your dog, you get the convenience of walking him in your home and he gets the benefit of a consistent exercise program. A treadmill can benefit both you and your pet. You just may have a treadmill dog living right under your nose.

Let’s face the facts…most people do not get the recommended daily exercise they need to stay healthy. Even those that are in their target weight area may not be exercising as they should. It may be that they are embarrassed to exercise in front of others. It might also be that they do not have the time. Even the weather can play havoc on an exercise regime such as walking. But there is a way to get the exercise that is needed. Treadmills are great ways to get in shape and stay healthy. Gatorade Sports Drink - One Of The First On The Market

November 19th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

Michael Jordan Gatorade Commercial

The Gatorade sports drink was first introduced to athletes in the middle of the sixties and ever since that time this endurance drink has been seen near the benches of teams across the nation, from high schools, to colleges, and of course professional teams. In addition, Gatorade has been a big time sponsor of virtually all of the major league sports franchises including the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB and even NASCAR.

Even with the major endorsements by world-class athletes and professional sports teams and leagues, many people still wonder just how effective Gatorade and other similar energy sports drinks really are. In an era when many individuals are increasingly skeptical than ever before when it comes to advertising claims, many people are curious to know if the widespread use of the electrolyte sports drink of Gatorade is just due to the fact that they have a huge advertising campaign for the brand or if it actually does have the ability to satisfy that “deep down body thirst” of athletes.

The main reason why it is important to have good fluid intake before, during and after workout sessions is to make sure that the moisture in the body that exits through sweating is replaced. When the fluid is not replaced, it is easy to become dehydrated and this leads to difficulty performing well. Gatorade sports drink has a reputation for being an excellent way to efficiently re-hydrate the body.

According to the manufacturers of Gatorade, this re-hydration is accomplished by providing a properly balanced mixture of carbohydrates and electrolytes along with the water. This type of appraoach in not unique to the brand that is Gatorade and is the assumption that is behind nearly all of the energy sports drinks as well as endurance drink recipes that are on the open market today.

And, this is indeed a burgeoning market. While the Gatorade brand is the oldest and best known of all the sports beverage drinks, there are more and more new types of performance sport drink beverages on the market every year. These competing energy sports drinks all have similar ingredients but they also each have their own special formulations that claim to provide certain advantages and benefits to the user. The various electrolyte sports drink formulas also have a wide range of flavorings added to help create a pleasing taste that also helps to encourage use.

According to the folks who produce Gatorade, there are four distinct ways that the energy sports drink helps to keep the athlete’s body function well even in situations of extreme physical stress and can even help to improve performance. The first way is by providing the ingredients, such as the electrolytes and carbs, which stimulate and support rapid absorption of fluids.

Secondly, consuming Gatorade encourages rapid re-hydration and this allows the body to maintain proper physiological functioning and prevents dehydration. The third factor is that the carbohydrates in the sports beverage deliver easily utilized energy to the working muscles. Also, the fourth method that is assists in helping is basically though motivating the athlete to consume sufficient fluids since there is a pleasurable flavor as well as rapid benefits.

The research conducted in various independent studies has consistently verified that many of the claims made about energy sports drinks in general, and the Gatorade sports drink more specifically, are not overblown but have validity in the real world. It has been shown repeatedly that athletes who consume these sports beverage drinks during their training or competition do not become dehydrated and they avoid the other negative side effects that can result from intense activity.

Why are you still wasting your time with those pills that are supposed to help you loose weight or build your muscles? You have to stay hydrated and those types of pills simply take the fluids out of your body. One of the initial things that you lose is the excess water in your body. That is the only real weight loss you achieve and it always comes back. You should have a reliable means of creating muscle. lower exessive amounts of fat as well as becoming healthier. The answer you have been looking for is found within sports drinks such as high protein shakes. Getting Into The Health Fitness Lifestyle

November 17th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

When you think about living a health fitness lifestyle, what does that really mean? Basically it means getting in some moderate exercise on a weekly basis, eating healthily, and quitting smoking, limiting alcohol consumption and maintaining a normal weight. To the average person who is strapped for time and busy with job and family commitments, maintaining your health may seem overwhelming. It does not need to be. As we will see, small changes in your daily living can mean big changes in your health.

Eating right does not have to be a chore. Simple changes you can make while on your next visit to the grocery store can get you on the right path to eating better. Small substitutions like eating more fruit and veggies and eating less refined and processed foods over time saves calories and adds nutrients to your diet. Don’t force yourself to shelve your entire diet and start with something restrictive. Feeling deprived leads to failure. Go slow and enjoy each new item you add to your diet.

Exercise does not have to be a dirty word. If you lead a sedentary lifestyle, start slow and increase your activity level as you reach small goals you set for yourself. It may be just using the stairs at work instead of using the elevator. Over time, you might decide to walk for part of your lunch break. Eventually you may want to join a fitness center to increase your progress. Go at a pace you are comfortable with and enjoy.

If you smoke, consider a smoking cessation program. There are medications in pill, patch and gum form that can assist you in stopping. Talking to a counselor or adopting a quit-smoking buddy has been shown to help smokers quit smoking at higher rate than trying to go it alone. Side effects of smoking include rapid heartbeat, decreased circulation, and shortness of breath and more serious problems like cancer, emphysema and heart disease can eventually develop.

Drinking alcohol in moderation has actually been shown to benefit the cardiovascular system. However, consuming more than a glass or two a day can cause liver damage. The liver acts as a giant filter system of the body. When the filter is clogged, the body does not function properly. Jaundice, gallstones, blood clotting difficulties, organ failure and death can result when the liver is compromised.

Knowing your body mass index (BMI) can help you calculate what a healthy weight is for your body type. You can calculate your BMI by dividing your weight by the square of your height or go online and use a BMI calculating tool. Regulating your diet and adding health fitness weekly can help stabilize your weight.

You may have let yourself go. Your body feels sluggish and you have no energy. You may have health issues that run in your family. What should you do? Adopt a healthy lifestyle. Add healthier food choices to your diet gradually. Make health fitness part of your daily routine. Stop smoking and drink a glass of red wine with a meal. To maintain a normal weight, eat right and increase your activity levels. The lifestyle goals you set for yourself are that much closer when you make small changes over a period of time.

Walking is the number one exercise performed by people daily. If you are a walker then you know how important a role the weather plays in your exercise schedule. Stop being a slave to the weather. Treadmills are the ideal way to stay in shape. You do not have to worry about walking in inclement weather and you can exercise in the comfort of your own home. This will help influence you into exercising more and getting into the best shape possible. Stop using the weather or time as an excuse. Get on that treadmill and start walking to a healthier new you. Click here for more information: Male Bodybuilder also Bally  Total  Fitness and at Fitness  Magazine
